Sick and tired of my day job in Nov 2012, I took a one week break and paid a visit to my sister and her family in Shanghai. With some spare time on hand, I visited a street there famous for its many musical instrument shops.
I walked into a few shops and tried my hands on some of the guitars on display, and discovered a gem – a Yamaha LL16. It is an all solid wood guitar which sounded warmer than most average acoustics (including my DW7). The damage was RMB5200, but considering that it is a handcrafted acoustic, it is definitely value for money.
The guitar spots a solid Engelmann spruce top, and solid rosewood back and sides. To improve on the acoustic, I switched the plastic saddle for one made of camel bone.
