In May 2011, I drove south from Taoyuan to Changhua to check out a guitar shop there. From their website, the shop seemed to carry a wide range of acoustics at reasonable prices.
When I arrived at the shop after 2 hours’ drive, I had my hands on all the mid range acoustics (NT$10,000 – $20,000). Due to budget constraints, I did not consider the Martins and Taylors.
After trying different models from various makes, I decided on the Yamaha DW7. Spotting a solid spruce top, and laminated rosewood back and sides, it was made in Taiwan (not China, yet). The damage was NT$10,000, and sounded good enough.
